Context and Brief

Having previously collaborated with Balich Wonder Studio on multiple global productions including the Disney Castle: Riyadh and Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary, we once again partnered with them to design and deliver the stadium screen visuals and broadcast countdown sequences for the six ceremonies held over the six weeks of the FIFA World Cup™. These included the Opening Ceremonies in Mexico City, Toronto and Los Angeles, the 250th anniversary Independence Day celebrations in Philadelphia and Houston, and the Closing Ceremony at MetLife Stadium in New York City.

Each ceremony demanded its own creative approach. Every visual was developed specifically for its host venue, drawing on national patterns, symbols, colours and textures to celebrate local identity while complementing performances from artists including Shakira, Katy Perry, Andrea Bocelli, David Guetta, Michael Bublé, Robbie Williams and Post Malone.

The result was a series of impactful show visuals that balanced spectacle with national identity, enriching the live experience and supporting the performances.

Creative Vision + Art Direction

With the tournament being hosted across three host nations for the first time, each with its own history, culture and identity, the creative challenge was to develop a visual language that celebrated their individuality while creating a cohesive experience across the tournament. Drawing inspiration from the colours, textures and cultural references of Mexico, the USA and Canada, we developed bespoke visual identities for each ceremony, translating national patterns and symbols into an experience based on energy and togetherness.

The scale and architecture of each stadium played a key role in shaping the design approach. From the 360-degree Oculus screen at SoFi Stadium to large-format ribbon displays, the visuals were designed to be bold and impactful, ensuring maximum legibility for every spectator.

The visual system combined countdown sequences, ceremony loops and choreographed artist sequences, with every animation synchronised to the rhythm of the live performances. Working closely with the lighting team, animation cues aligned with key musical moments to create a coordinated live experience, while ensuring the focus always remained on the performers.
We created a series of bespoke broadcast countdown sequences that built anticipation ahead of each ceremony and introduced each host nation to a worldwide audience.
A predominantly 2D aesthetic, supported by a flexible asset library, allowed us to deliver hundreds of high-quality visual assets, maintaining a consistent animation language across all six ceremonies.

Alongside the ceremony-specific media, we developed a dedicated Protocol and Flag of Nations visual identity featured across most ceremonies to provide a recognisable and unified thread throughout the tournament.

We helped bring each stadium to life through colour, movement and cultural identity while connecting three host nations through one shared celebration of sport.

Technical
Implementation

We joined the production during its early concept phase, creating pre-visualisations that demonstrated how the visual media could come to life within each stadium environment and presenting the bespoke creative approach developed for each host nation before moving into full production.

The scale and technical complexity of the project required a highly structured production and delivery pipeline. Across six ceremonies and more than 100 individual LED surfaces, we created hundreds of visual assets for six stadium environments, delivering media across more than 295 million pixels of LED real estate.

From the 360-degree Oculus screen at SoFi Stadium to large-format ribbon displays, every output required its own technical approach because each venue presented different screen configurations, resolutions, frame rates, codecs and delivery specifications. SoFi Stadium alone required media across 45 individual LED surfaces and more than 131 million pixels, demanding seamless visuals that wrap around the stadium's iconic Infinity Screen while maintaining clarity and impact from every angle.

To manage the complexity of multiple venues and output formats, we developed a robust production workflow centred around After Effects, supported by our in-house render farm and custom automation tools. These streamlined quality control by checking frame rates, resolutions, codecs and technical specifications across hundreds of deliverables, ensuring every file was pixel-perfect before delivery.
